THEFTS FROM POST-BOXES.
THE TARANAKI ROBBERIES.
ADMISSION OF GUILT MADE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. A sequel to the breaking open of postboxes in New Plymouth, Stratford and Waitara in the early part of August, and tho theft of approximately 200 packets of mail matter, -was beard in tho Police Court this morning.
Raymond Jack Vernon Elliott was charged on eight counts of breaking open postal-boxes in New Plymouth on August 4, and stealing postal packets therefrom; on one count of attempting to break open a box; on four similar counts with regard to post-boxes at Stratford on August 5; on one similar count at Waitara on August 8. 110 was also charged with breaking and entering tho premises of Thomas Borthwick and Sons, Limited, at Waitara, and with attempting to break and enter tho premises of tho Friendly Societies Dispensary at Waitara on August 2. Accused had made a statement to tho police admitting tho offences. Ho pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Last Friday Elliott was also committed for sentence on 17 charges of breaking, entering and theft in New Plymouth and Inglowood, to which ho pleaded guilty.
