'ANOTHER FLOODLIGHT MATCH

REPRESENTATIVES FOR THAMES

The management committeo of the Auclv land Rugby Union met last evening, Mr S. Belcher presiding.

The juuior management board was authorised to send a third glade intermediate representative team to Pukekohe on September 'A?. The City Club was granted permission to travel to Waihi next Saturday. It was resolved to again defer discussion of the letter from the New Zealand Union regarding '"Auckland rule;, ' in order to enable tho chairman, Mr 11. Frost, to bo present when the matter is connidered.

The Ponsonby Club applied for permission to play Technical Old Boys at Blandford Park under iloodlight next week. Permission was granted, the club being required to forward a statement of receipts and payments.

Tho match committeo recommended that the A representative team bo sent to Thames on October 5, and the recommeutlutiou was adopted.

The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday Show Grounds, Messrs. Hoare and Redmond. Point Chevalier, Mr. Worsfold; Domain Mr. Matthews; Oneliuuga, Mr. Heighwuy.

At a meeting of the Waipa. Rugby Union the payment of £63 was authorised to meet claims against the insurance fund by injured players It was decided to register a change of colours for representative jerseys, from all white to maroon with broad gold band. The president and chairman of committee, Mr. Francis Quin, was urged to Teconsider his intention of retiring from active participation in the management of Rugby. Mr. Quin said he cfrtainly bad intended to retire in favour of younger men, but he had thoroughly enjoyed his association with the management committee, .and possibly he would give a favourable "reply to their requests when thu next playing season came round.

Tho East Coast Rugby team defeated the Taranaki touring team at liuatoria to-day by points to 0. The game was not exciting and was somewhat slow. There was a gathering of about 800 spectators. The ground was hard. The match was singularly tree, of casualties, there being only one leVlncement, when Wolfe, Taranaki's outstanding forward, sustained an injury and was replaced hy McLean. The only score came in the second spell, Ruroa making a spectacular dive over the line with two men hanging on to him. Ncpia appears to have regained soine of his old form, and* Harrison, the East Coast half, was also prominent. Of the visitors Watson, on tho wing, Wolfe and Clark in the forwards, and Ilobora, the half, were outstanding.
