SPRING FLOWER SHOW.
Spring (lowers in all thoir fragrance and beauty were to be seen in profusion at the Lyceum Club yesterday afternoon, when a spring (lower exhibition was hold by (ho gardening circle. Particular interest was attached to yesterday's exhibition, as it was the first spring show held by (lie club, and the masses of beautiful flowers which were to bo seen in the loungo mado a delightful picture. Small tables were laden with Iceland poppies, anemones in their vivid colourings, stocks and peonies, while on another table were to bo seen Early Victorian posies made up from every conceivable kind of (lower in season. A particularly fine selection of rarer (lowers, including Christmas roses, pink violets and auriculas, was sent from a garden in YVanganui and a table con taining ceanothus and hypoxis also received great admiration. Mrs. \V. 11. Parkes, president of the Lyceum Club, declared tho exhibition open and con gratulated Mrs. Tattersficld, convener of the gardoning circle, and the various mem bers who had sent in flowers, on the wonderful display, and at tho conclusion of her speech was presented with tho prettiest of the Early. Victorian posies. .V delightful afternoon tea was served during tho course of the afternoon.
