Misses J. and I". Nelson have returned to Wellington from an extended visit to Auckland.

Miss Noelitlne Worthy returned this week by the Makura from a five months' visit to* the Pacific Islands.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fair, of Palmerston North, have arrived in Auckland, where Mr. Fair will take up his duties with the Public Trust Office.

Mrs. C. L. Barnard, of Holensville, and Mrs. G. T. Simpson, of Te Tuke. have left for Wellington to visit Mr. W. E. Barnard, MiP., of Napier.

Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Crawford (Dunrtlin), who have been spending some weeks in Auckland, left by last evening's limited train for the South.

The Tuakau branch of the Women's Institute held a special meeting on Tuesday. Miss Crawford, from the Massey College, gave an interesting address on the Massey College, also a demonstration of cheese-making. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Crawford. Miss Marion Tylee, who has been in England for the past three years, studying under Professor Tonks at the Slade ScTjool of Art, has been successful in obtaining both drawing and painting certificates" With her sister. The fourth annual birthday party of the Gladstone Girl Guides and Brownie Pack was held in the Presbyterian Sunday School, Mount Albert, recently, a very f-niovable time being spent. Toasts were honoured and members of the committee were presented with bouquets of daphne and violets, the. committee in its turn presenting the Guides and Brownies with books. Fancy dn>=ses were worn by the r-irls manv of the costumes being very tjuaint anil original. The prizes were awarded to Miss. Ada Brown, v.ho lepieS pnted an old woman, Misses Renshaw, bride and bridegroom, and Miss Sadgrove, Eastern lady.
