THE INCIDENCE OF TAXATION.

Sir,—That tho Minister of Finance should propose to increase the revenue by taxing farmers who produce wealth, and raising the- primago duty, whicti will inevitably result in increased higher cost of living, instead of levying a heavy tax on sports and amusements, seems incomprehensible. That the youth of New Zealand are excessively addicted to amusements which add nothing to tho wealth of the community is patent to everyone. It is evident that the Ministers have very little sense of humour Anything more ludicrous than the .Minister of Education begging farmers to employ boys, and the Minister of Finance taking it out of the farmers' power tc pay decent wages could not be imagined.
