PURSUIT AT MIDNIGHT.
OWNER AND CONVERTED CAR
FIGHT WITH OCCUPANTS. ; \
[bt telegraph.—press association.] DUNEDIN, Monday.
A plea of guilty to charges of convert* ing a car to his own use and assaulting a constable was entered by William Alex* andcr llobcrtson in the Police Court to* day.
The police staled that the owner of th« car missed ifc when he was about to return from a football match on Saturday; afternoon. At midnight he saw it being: driven by accused, who was accompanied by other men.
The owner gave chase in a taxi and overhauled accused. Ho remonstrated with him for faking the car, when tlia occupants of the vehicle gave him ffc thrashing. As the car was moving off a constablo jumped on to the running board, and ho also got a rough handling,, being severely punched about the bead. Accused, who refused to disclose the names of his companions, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on the first* charge and one month on the tho terms to be concurrent.
