WARKXVORTH'S GOOD EFFORT. v
The amount at fho . credit of th» Herald and Weekly News fund for tha relief of distress occasioned by iho earthquake has been raised to the splendid total of £9855.
A notable addition to tho list has been! made by Warkworth, where the Towa Board's fund totalled £lO5. The money was raised by a citizens' committee, partly by direct giving and partly as tho proceeds" from a social evening, including a mock court, etc. The total expenses ia raising this sum amounted to only £1 12s.' The population of tho town district is about 500, and the community is deservedly proud of its effort. The appeal has also met with a ready; response from (he settlers at PortFitzroy, Great Barrier, who have forwarded £5 lis.
Further subscriptions will be received at. the Herald office and acknowledged in these columns. The list to date is as follows

[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.J DUNEDIN, Monday. On behalf of <he earthquake fund, th« Mayor of Dunedin, Mr. K. S. Black, today received cheques for £439 16s Sd and £ls from the Otago University Students' Association. The former the amount collected by the students on capping day and donations from the students themselves, and the latter a donation from tho executive of the Students' Association.
