WINTER EXHIBITION PROFIT.

FORMATION OF CALF CLUBS.

A meeting of the council of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held last evening, the president, Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, presiding. Reporting upon the Winter Exhibition tho secretary, Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, said thai a first payment of £750 had been made to each association and there would he a further £2OO to £250 available for each, making the net profit similar to that of last year. . . Reports on the annual meeting of th« Auckland Provincial Council and the North Island conference, held in Auck- ; ■land recently,,, were .presented by the secretary. He said that the conferences were most successful and in spite of tho previous criticism from south, a very friendly tone prevailed. Appreciation was expressed by the visiting delegates ot the ■work of the Auckland Provincial Council. In fact, it was being recognised that Auckland had accomplished the biggest work in the co-ordination of shows that had been done during the last 10 years. The setting up of an organisation to go into the matter of promoting calf clubs was discussed. It was decided to form a'committee with the following organisations represented:—Association, council, with six delegates and ono each from the Farmers' Union, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Manufacturers' Association, dairy producers, Education Board. Agricultural Department, and one each from the breed associations. The association council's delegates were elected as follows: —Messrs. E. D. McLennan, S. 11. Barton, S. Hamlin, A. C. Trousdale, J. Meyer and A. J. Stratford. It was loft to this committee to drawup details, after which the other organisations will bo approached for their co operation and the movement extended. The proposals for tho registration of side-sliowmen as presented to the Auckland Provincial Council wore adopted. Votes of condolence were passed with the relatives of the late James Wyllie and S. J. Ambury. two old members of the association.
