Tho St. John Ambulance will make its annual street, appeal in aid of funds in Auckland City and suburbs next Friday. In view of the many services freely rendered by members of the organisation, a'.id so much appreciated by the public, a wide and generous response is to bo expected. A large amount of sports work is done wilho'ut direct cost to the central organisation, but- office expenses, staff salaries and the highly-efficient -ambulances require a minimum of £I6OO annually, to which the public is asked to contribute. During the past year ambulance nurses paid 7467 visits to poor patients, and gave skilled treatment to 805 out-patients at the station. The ambulance officers conveyed 1279 patients to hospital or their homes after accidents, and rendered firstaid to 3130 waterfront workers. Members of the. brigade "on sports fields and elsewhere rendered first-aid to the injured in 10.084 instances.
