Jowitt, At-torney-General At the recent general election Sir William was elected for ono of the twi. Preston seats as a Liberal 110 resigned in order to recontest the seat as a Labour candidate, l'ho result of the polling was: Sir William A Jowitt (Labour) 55.608 A. B Howitt (Conservative) . . 29. 1 68 S. M. Iloldon (Independent) . . 410 Tho result of tho polling at (ho general election for the two Preston seats was as follows: — T , Shaw (Labour) . . . . 37,705* wj A Jowitt (Liberal) . . . A. B. Howitt (Conservative) . . 29.116 C R. O. Rmott (Conservative) 27.754 S. M. Iloldon (Independent) . . 2,111 * Elected.
