SEQUEL TO COLLISION
DRIVER ENTERS PLEA OF GUILTY

As the result of a collision on the Hutt Road in which a cyclist, C. E. Warr, was seriously injured, Nathaniel John Reid, salesman, aged 41, was charged in the Magistrate's Court with causing bodily injury while driving in a stale of intoxication.
The medical evidence showed that Warr was severely hurt and would be incapacitated for six months, and would possibly suffer from shortness in one log, which was broken.
A witness said lie saw accused driving erratically, swerro to the wrong side and hit a cyclist. He saw accused after tho accident and considered that he was unfit to drive. Counsel's version for accused was that tho day was wet and windy. Cigarette ash flew into Reid's eye and temporarily blinded him. The car did not belong to him and he could not get bail. Eventually accused decided to plead guilty, rather than to wait three months for trial. He was committed for sentence.
