DOUBLE FAREWELL.
POLICEMAN AND PUBLICAN.
A double farewell gathering at Rahotu, Taranaki, this week, was unique, the guests being the local policeman and the local publican. However, as one speaker put it. both were to a certain extent servants of State. The publican paid a fee to the State to be permitted to serve the public and the policeman was paid by the State to see that the publican did not serve the public too well.
