TOURISTS FROM AMERICA.
SEVERAL PARTIES ARRANGED ADVICE FROM SAN FRANCISCO. [BY telegraph.—press association I .] WELLINGTON, Thursday. A statement was made to-day by Sir Joseph Ward, Minister in charge of the Tourist Department, that a letter had been received from the newly-appointed representative of the Tourist and Railway Departments in America, Mr, Wheeler, manager of Pacific Tours, Limited, San Francisco, regarding parties his firm was sending. A party of 12 members,- who would make a tour of both islands, would arrive in Wellington on December 16, and a party of 18 members, making a tour of the North Island, would arrive on December' 50. These parties would bo met by an officer of the Tourist Department and details of their tours arranged. Mr. Wheeler's next escorted party would arrive on February 10. The party would consist of 36 members,, half of whom would tour both islands, somo the North and some the South Island.
Mr. Wheeler reported that he expocted to arrange for further parties leaving America "in November and December and more in January and February.
