O THE ADViSORY COMMITTEE. NEW ZEALAND REPRESENTATIVE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Tuesday. The Prime Minister has announced tho appointment of Mr. M. B. Esson, second assistant secretary of tho General Post Office, as tho New Zealand representative on the Imperial Communications Advisory Committee. Mr. Esson, who during Mr. McNamara's absence, is acting as first assistant secretary, entered the Post and Telegraph service in 1889 as an administrative officer, lie has been actively connected with telegraph and wireless matters and is thoroughly familiar with all the circumstances leading up to tho merger of tho cable and wireless interests. His new appointment its an important one from the cable user's point of view and it is considered that he is well equipped and has the requisite knowledge of the details of cable and wireless communication to enable him to examine thoroughly all proposals likely to come before the Advisory Committee. Ho will retire from the Post and Telegraph Department on completing 40 years' service and will probably leave for England next November. The Imperial Communications Advisory Committee is concerned with the policy of the new Imperial and International Communications Company, and, in particular, is charged with responsibility in regard to the institution of the new services, alterations in rotes and distribution of traffic between alternative routes. One of the main features of the plan proposed by the Imperial Wireless and Cable Conference is tho fixing of a standard of net revenue which should bo available for purposes of the Communications Company. Fifty per cent, of all net revenue in excess of this standard is to bo devoted to roduction of rates or such other purposes as the advisory committee may approve.

Baillieu; Union of South Africa, Lieutenant-Colonel 11. A. Sturmanj Irish Free State, Mr. T. J. Kiornan; India, Sir Atul Chatterjee; Colonies and Protectorates, Sir Edward Davson.
