FAILURE OF POWER.
POSITION AT THE HOSPITAL.
STAND-BY PLANT SUGGESTED
Tho seriousness of the failure of electric
power at the Auckland Hospital through defects arising in the Auckland Power Board's system was pointed out to the Hospital Board by Dr. C. E. Maguirc, medical superintendent, yesterday. It was stated that as a result of these failures the board was considering the installation of an emergency plant at a cost of £3OOO. Dr. Maguire stated in a report to tho board that the stoppage of the power supply to the hospital was a serious question and ho urged that consideration should be given to the installation of a stand-by plant. It was possible that the lives of patients would bo jeopardised through tho power failing at critical times.
The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, said the board's engineer had already gone into the question of installing an emergency plant, and it was believed this would cost £3OOO. It was decided to forward Dr. Maguire's letter to tho Power Board with a request for a report.
