OFFICIAL CANADIAN PROTEST
RUMOURED MOVE BY BRITAIN

Authentic reports that Canada had protested against the proposed increases in the American tariffs on shingles and timber drew from the State Department the statement that the Canadian Minister at Washington, Mr. Vincent Massev, had had a conversation with the Secretary of State, Mr. H. L. Stimson, on tariff matters.
'llie signs indicate that tho Administration'is more concerned over the outcry from Canada than over some of the protests from other nations. Mr. Massey s verbal representations arc understood to linYc also embraced the proposed tariff on store cattle.
