Australian and X.Z. Press Association. (Received July It. 5.25 p.m.) CAPETOWN. July 13
The fire in the coal-carrying steamer , King Cadwallon, from England to Adelaide via Durban, spread rapidly. The efforts of the crew were unavailing and the ship was abandoned. The steamer Ardenhall, of the West Hartlepool Steam Navigation Company, arrived half-.an-hour before the crew of the King Cadwallon abandoned their vessel, after opening the seacocks to prevent the hulk becoming a danger to shipping.
The flagship Calcutta, which was at Durban, was ordered to rush to give assistance and left Durban last evening, but in view of this news the cruiser is returning to Durban.
