INJURIES TO FOOTBALLERS

DISLOCATION OF THE NECK

Severe dislocation of the neck was sustained by Mr. L. Mclnnes, single, aged 25, while playing Rugby football for the Toilsonby second grade A team against the Manukau Union representatives at Papakura on Saturday afternoon. He was removed to the Auckland Hospital, and his condition last evening was serious. Mr. Mclnnes resides at 205, Jervois Road, Heme Bay.

Mr. A. Hitchen. of Katia Road, Devonport, received injuries to a knee while playing Association football at Victoria Park. A youth named Hill, of- 9, Richmond Road, Porisonby, sustained injuries to the head \Vhilc playing junior Rugby at the Dihvorth Institute. Both were treated aL the hospital and later discharged. As a result of falling from Queen's Wharf and striking a pile on Saturday morning, Mr. J. Rudman, aged 42, received injuries to the head and fractures of the ribs. The injured man, who was cmployed by a firm of stevedores, was hauling on a rope when it broke, and he fell over the edge of the wharf. Mr. Rudman, who resides in Keppel Street, Archhill, was removed to the Auckland Hospital. His condition last evening was not serious. Injuries to several fingers were sustained by Mr. L. Olscn, aged 40, as a result of a beam falling on his hand while he was working on the steamer Kent on Saturday morning. The injured man, who resides in Ascot Road, Mangere, was attended by the St. John Ambulance.
