PHILISTINE CLUB.
A rerr enjoyable even:nu was spent on Saturday by the members and friends of the Philistine Club in the Amateur. Operate Society's Hall. Grafton Road. There was an unusually larjre attendance and an excellent; programme was submitted, after which clanuing took place until midnscht. Mr. J, You]::: JSirch officiated as chairman. Snitss were presented by Misses loa and Laura Walker, Mrs. Wallace Good and Serjeant-Major Hallo ran, inslrninental trios by the Misses Winifred. Ida and Mariofie Moors, and humorous interludes l y Messrs. H. E. Gillespie and T. T. Gar-b-T.d. Tim programme concluded with a much-appreciated farcical sketch, "Aunt Sarah Calls." This had been _ specially written for the talented Phkistine Playfis Jiy the chairman of -he evening, Mr. Birch". It, was very cleverly enacted under the direction of Mr. Fred McCallutn. The puns were playsd in a manner which reflected the utmost credit upon all ' concerned. These who formed the T-ast wers: Mesdames H. Kin?. Harle<*iles.' Misses Anita Webster. Ruby Palmer, Mona Wailbank, D'Aathrea-j, Messrs. liartman, HarJe-Giles and Ne-.v-liag.
