WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED.

AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS. ABSORBING TWO HUNDRED MEN. As part of the Government's plan to place in work 500 of the unemployed in the Auckland district the Public Works Department is now making arrangements to find employment for about 200 men, according to advice received yesterday. Road works in the Taumarunui district will absorb 125 men and an additional 70 men will be employed on road works near Auckland. It is expected the works will be in operation within the next fortnight. These undertakings will provide some measuro of relief in the unemployment situation in Auckland. There are over 1000 names on the unemployed register in the city.
