KENNEL CLUB SHOW.

TERRIERS AND TOY. DOGS-

BEST IN DOMINION COMPETE.

NEW BREED ON EXHIBITION.

Some of the best animals of their class in New Zealand are competing in tho terrier and toy dog show, -which was opened yesterday in conjunction with (he Auckland Winter Exhibition. Entries exceeded the most optimistic expectations, and officials of the Auckland Kennel Club, under whose auspices the show is held, state that, so far as fox terriers are concerned, it is tho best exhibition that Auckland has seen for 10 years. Apart from that the entries in tho other sections arc also high-class, and arc considered to bo up to the standard of any previous show in Auckland. The keenest competition was in the classes for smooth fox terriers, which attracted tho four best terriers in New Zealand—Mrs. S. J. Harrison's Meriden Make-up, from Wellington; Mrs. G. Lawson's Frankley Mobility, from New Plymouth; Miss D. McColl's Renaultree Radiance, from Wellington; and Mr. F. Brown's Tarana Leading Lady, from Auckland. There was also a good entry in the class for wire fox terriers, and among these was found the best terrier, smooth or wire, in the show in Mr. N. Wade's imported dog, Champion Dogberry Keen Kut. The best wire bitch was a daughter of Keen Kut, Menlone Bloom, which was the property of the same owner.

Outstanding among the Airedales, always a popular class, was Mr. 11. Grierson's Belmont Boy, which was adjudged the best Airedale and was awarded the challenge.

The toy dogs were very strong. Mrs. N. Wade's Sambala, a young Pekingese, was adjudged the best in the show, in spite of the fact that it is under two' years of age, while Mrs. J. McGaw, with Mossman's Sunbright, secured tho champion award for miniature Pomeranians. Tho King Charles spaniels, a new breed to New Zealand, was represented by four beautiful specimens exhibited by Mr. and Mrs. R. Marshall.
