BRIDGE EVENING. Mrs. Pov Kemp entertained some of her friends to bridge on Monday evening at her home, Grey Street. '1 lie bt-idge room looked very bright and cosy with big blazing fires and everyone had a very enjoyable time. The prize-winners were Mrs. A. J. Bond and Mrs. T. Fraser. Mrs. Kemp received her guests in a frock of cameo-pink taffeta and ivory laco and a figured ring velvet bridge coat. Included among the guests were:—Mrs. T. Fraser, who wore claret-shaded embossed ring velvet; Mrs. Russell, pastel georgette and floral embossed velvet bridge coat; Mrs. A. English, parchment embroidered crepe do chine; Mrs. J. McNicol, rose chenille and floral tissue bridge coat; Mrs. A. J. Bond, floral ninon and blue scarf; Mrs. C. I*. McDiarniid, winocoloured crepo do chine; Mrs. F. Biehan, larkspur-blue georgette; Miss E Hammond, hydrangea blue shot taffeta and black beaded bridgo coat; Miss A. Coventry, black laco and eau do nil bridge coat; Miss M. Beale, periwinkle blue crepo fleuri; Miss II Hey wood, cyclamen crepe de chine and gold lace: Miss I< Jolly, blue and floral ninon and embossed tissue bridge coat. Reading Club.
A successful reading of "The Liars, by Henry Arthur Jones, was held at the Lyceum Club on Tuesday night by the Rending Circlo. Those who took part in the reading were Mrs. Campbell Miss Wyatt, Miss Osmers, Miss Wright. Miss Seal, Miss Hodgson, Miss Campbell, Miss Brewer, Miss P. Bullock, Miss C. Eggles ton, Miss L. Nicholls, Miss Welsh, Miss 1 Andrews. Others present included:— Mrs. T. Reynolds, Mrs Toombs, Mrs. E J. Johnson, Mrs. Brewer, Mrs. Seal, Mrs. Bullock, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Androws, Miss Eastwood, Miss F. Jolly, Miss F. M. Hall. Miss E. Bullock. Personal. Miss Bourkc has returned from a trip to the South Sea Islands.
