WEEK-END WEATHER.

HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— The new disturbance of cyclonic character is now moving on to New Zealand from the Tasman Sea Cloudy to overcast weather conditions are indicated, with milder temperatures. Ram is expected generally, heavy in the central districts of the North Island and on the west coast of the South Island, with flooded rivers. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening, increasing strong to gale, and backing to west. Rough seas on both tho east and west coasts. Tropical influences are agnin a prominent feature in Dominion v. .ather conditions, these additional factors in recent depressions being a somewhat unusual feature for the winter months, and are indicative of a considerable rainfall when occurring at this season. Expect a general decrease in barometric pressure. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 30.10 in. Midnight. Thursday .. 30.20 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The anticyclone is passing eastward and a rather deep depression is advancing on to New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. Indications are for northerly winds, freshening and becoming strong at places. Seas smooth to moderate, hut rising later south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Strong northerly winds, reaching gale force in parts in the eastern Tasman "Sea, with rather rough to rough Sbas. Weather fair at first, with "mild temperatures, but clouds ; rapidlv increasing and unsettled conditions," with rain developing in most d;s tricls. Indications are for an unsettled \\ cek-end.
