TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tho following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening: Mainly f;yr to fine weather in indicated, with cold temperatures and coastal fogs, but unsettled at times, with scattered showers, chiefly in west coast districts. Tho general outlook favours chiefly fine weather in most districts during (ho next, two days. Variablo and moderate breezes, northerly to north-easterly winds,, moderate to strong, prevailing shortly and freshening. Seas smooth to moderate. Tho high barometric pressure system which is of only moderate intensity, is now moving on to tho North Island. A new disturbance is developing on (lie south-west Tasmati Sea. Tito Government meteorologist reported List evening as lollows: —Pressure is relatively low over New Zealand with little variation fronr place to place. A moderate anti-cyclone is crossing.the North Tasman but a vigorous depression is centred near Tasmania. Indications aro for moderate to fresh southerly winds shortly becoming variable and later tending northerly. Still a considerable swell on the East Coast but moderating and seas otherwise smooth to moderate. Light to moderate southwest to westerly winds in the eastern Tasman. later veering to northerlies and freshening. Weather still showery in scattered places but fine weather soon prevailing. Cold temperatures with many frosts. Some snowfall is likely on tho langes in the northern part of tho South Island. ♦
