MR. L. A. PAISH APPOINTED.

EXPERIENCE IN BRITAIN.

A DISTINGUISHED CAREER.

Cabled advice has been received in Wellington of the appointment by the British Board of Trade of Mr. L. A. Paish as His Majesty's Trade- Commissioner in New Zealand, in succession to Mr. L. B. Beale. Mr. I'aish is expected to sail for New Zealand on July 26. The new Trade Commissioner is, stales Mr. Lambie, the deputy trade commissioner, a man of outstanding ability and strong personality, with a profound knowledge both of industrial conditions in Britain and of Einpiro economics. , After a successful career In the Patent Office in London Mr. Paisli in .1914 joined tho staff of the Department of Overseas Trade, and rapidly distinguished himself by his keen judgment, energy and initiative. He has been for some years an assistant director in charge of the trades division of tho department, and in that position has been in intimate touch with tho leading manufacturers and trade associations in Britain. He will undoubtedly prove a worthy successor to Mr. Beale and the other trade commissioners who have done so much good work for British trade in New Zealand.
