Allum, when a report was presented f.o the Transport, Board yesterday, showing that .1638 free, passes wore issued on the Auckland trams. Of tliis number, 1262-were oa issue to employees of 'ho board. Disabled soldiers' passes numbered 136. Applications were made through the Keturned Soldiers' Association and passes were given to men who had lost, a leg or tho sight of both eyes oir active service. All police constables and sergeants in uniform, numbering 170, and 57 members of the detective and non-uniform branch of the Police Department were also permitted to travel free on production of the police certificate of author-
Gold passes were being struck, the report added, for the ten members of the Transport Board and thrcfc oxcculi\e officers, available on all trains and buses. Yearly tickets, procurable on payment of an annual Sum of £l2 12s, were issued to 51 members a<id officials of the City Council, 38 officers of the Auckland l'owei Board, six officials of the . , graph Department, two to tho Hospital Board, and one each to seven charitablo organisations.
