DECISION OF THE COUNCIL.

The Bv-laws Committee stated that it had been reported to the committee that on occasions, when assistant traffic inspectors had approached persons in reference t„ a breach of the law, they iiad been subjected to obscene language and insolence, aud the suggestion hud been made that traffic inspectors, on completing 12 months servieo tfith the council, should be enrolled aS special constables to act in all matters relating to traffic Tho chief traffic inspector and the assistant chief traffic inspector had already been sworn in as special constables, and the committee recommended that the stipendiary magistrate lie requested to deal similarly with those inspectors who had been in the council's servieo lor 12 months or more.
