THEFTS BY YOUNG MEN.
OFFENCES IN THE SOUTH
COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE

Two young men, Richard Bailes and George Edwards, who recently left tho North Island, appeared beforo Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., in tho Magistrate's Court this morning on a series of charges involving theft. Bailes, who is 21, was described as a butcher, and Edwards, who also is 21, as a fitter. Both were staled to be residents of Okaihau, Bay of Islands.
There were four charges against the accused, tlirco of breaking and entering at Lyttelton, including one charge of the actual theft of £7 to £B, and various small articles from tho shop of Alfred Webb-, and a fourth charge of breaking and entering the shop of Messrs. Hurst and Drake, Christchurch, and the theft of two bottles of spirit and a fountain pen. Mr. Hobbs appeared for the accused.
Tho accused pleaded guilty to all the charges and wero committed to the Supremo Court for sentence. Mr. Hobbs said there wero some further charges pending against tho accused for offences at Hamilton.
