NEW TRAM SHELTERS.
PROPOSALS BEFORE BOARD.
CASE OF MOUNTAIN ROAD.
A proposal to erect 'four more tram shelters is under consideration by the Transport Board. The manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, recommended the board yesterday to build shelters at the intersection of Mountain Road and Khyber Pass Road, at the intersection of Epsom Avenue and Manukau Road, between Esplanade and Edenvale Roads on the Mount Eden route and between Coombes Road and Walton Street on the Victoria Avenue route. The cost will bo £4lO.
No money was available for the erection of further sheds, the manager added, and in any case it was not usual for tramway undertakings to erect such sheds at all stopping places. The Aubkland Automobile Association wrote asking that the tram stop at tho intersection of Mountain Road and Khyber Pass Road be removed to the western side of the intersection, and giving the result of a traffic tally taken at the spot. Mr. G. Baildon said if a tram shelter was to be erected at the proposed altered stop care would have to bo taken lest it should obstruct the view of traffic entering Khyber Pass. The City Council had spent money in acquiring a reserve there to improve the corner. The letter arid the manager's report regarding tram sholtcrs were referred to the board in committee for consideration.
