ACCIDENTS AT RACES.
THREE HORSES KILLED. TWO AUSTRALIAN MEETINGS. Racing in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday, Juno 22, was marred by accidents. Four jockeys were injured at Moorefield as tho result of five horses falling, and at Caulfield the hurdler Baldini and the steeplechasers Nyangay and Frampton wero killed. In tho first division of tho Flying Welter Handicap at Moorefield, Trillary and Gun Club made the running until approaching tho turn into the straight. There Trillary began to weaken, and, when dropping back, he appeared to come info contact with other horses that wore making a forward move. Suddenly Trillary fell, and in quick succession Bonnie, Marjorie (D. Munro), Greenheath (C. Ryan), Lady Lilah (W. Cook) and Golden Music (A. Field) also came down. The jockeys were'thrown heavily to the ground, Field being hurled into the air. A crowd rushed to the assistance of tho jockeys, and the club's doctor and the ambulance also went, to the scene quickly. Field and Munro were taken :o the casualty room in the ambulance. Fell, tho rider of Trillary, was carried lown tho straight on a stretcher, and ;,'ook was brought in by two members of [he polico force. Ryan,.who was uninjured, returned to tho jockeys' room inassistcd and rode in tho succeeding •ace. Field and Fell were subsequently taken :o a hospital. Field was suffering from contusions to the back and abrasions, ind Fell was suffering from concussion ind abrasions. Munro suffered an injury Lo an ankle, and Cook a severe shaking. Baldini and Nyangay, two of the best jumping horses in Victoria, were killea it Caulfield. Baldini fell at tho first jump in the straight the first time round n tho Toolambool Hurdle; Race, and ho jroko his neck. Adit went down over tiim, and Tiki, tho favourite, collided ivith him. Baldini was one of the most consistent lurdlers racing in Melbourne. At his irevious six starts he had scored two .vins, three seconds, and a third. B. Kreiger, rider of Baldini, received severe concussion and other injuries. Nyangay, who was one of tho favotiri.es'for t.he. Grand National Steeplechase, Vll at a fence near the seven furlongs >ost in the Wanda Steeplechase. He jroko his neck. Ho was top-weight in ho race, and top-weight in tho Grand National Steeplechase, which event ho von in 1927. Last year 1 lie finished iccond to Namora in the Grand National, ind ho was second to Sir Alpgy in the. \ustralian Hurdle Race. He started ;ivourite, for the Wanda Steeplechase. Frampton, who fell half a-mile from mine in the Wanda Steeplechase, did not. ippear seriously injured when -lie was led tack to the enclosure, but he was injured nternallv and while being dried in his tall he collapsed and died. His rider, J. May, was not injured. FJavren fell at the fence which brought 'rnmpton down. Ho followed tho field, mt ho was very lame in one of his forer>gs when lie pulled up. HiS rider, T. )ynon, received a broken bone on tho ight side of his noso. Lan,ago, fell seven urlongs from homo, but ho was not oriously injured. His rider, C. Black, i-as less fortunate. Black was having lis first lido since his recovery from a noken collarbone, and when •ho fell i-ith Lanage the bono was brokfcn again, 'obbon was not injured when he fell, nd his trainer, W.
