HARBOUR BOARD CHARGES.

POSSIBILITY OF REDUCTION.

A reduction in the Lyttelton Harbour Board's dues and charges on goods was foreshadowed by tho chairman, Mr. H. Holland, M.P., at a meeting of tho board to-day. Mr. Holland reported that in consequenco of the redemption of maturing loans in July, tho saving in interest and principal would bo £9682 a year. The secretary and treasurer was closely watching the financial position and Mr. Holland proposed to call for Iris report ait the close of the financial year with a view to a reduction in the board's dues and charges on goods.
