SERIES OF BURGLARIES.
DOORS TAKEN OFF SAFE. OWNERS* LOSS TOTALS £IOO. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] I TAUPO, Monday. A burglary occurred at Taupo at the. week-end, when the premises of W. G. Thorp and Company, storekeepers, were entered and money and goods, valued at £IOO, were stolen. Cash to the value of £SO was missing when the shop was opened this • morning, while the stolen goods included tobacco, ties, shirts and stockings. t The thieves gainod entrance by removing a strip of glass from a back window. They picked up a new hack-saw, which they used upon the safe, after which they were able to lift the doors off. Notes and ■ silver 'were taken, but the intruders left untouched all cheques and postal notes. SHOPS AND HOUSE ENTERED. MONEY AND CLOTHING TAKEN. Clothing valued at about £2O was stolen from the premises of Mr. E. G. Clark, tailor, of 36-38, Pitt Street, on Saturday evening. Entrance was gained by cutting a small hole in a glass pane in the door, the handle then being turned from the inside. Suits and overcoats were removed. An unoccupied shop nearby was forced in a similar manner, the thieves leaving the back door open. On Friday evening the grocery store of Mr. W. N. Munro in Jervois Road, Potisonby, was entered through a rear door and about £2 were taken from the till. A safe, which contained money, was not touched. Thieves entered the home of Mrs. lE. Grundy, Great North Road, New Lynn, between 8 and 9 o'clock yesterday morning, ransacked tho house, and stole a quantity of men's clothing. The occupier was away from the houso for only an hour.
