BIRTHDAY EVENING. The third birthday of tbo Waikato Lycoum Club was celebrated on Thursday livening, when the loungo was filled to its fullest extent with members. The large room was beautifully decorated with pale pink camellias, Iceland poppies and rod hot pokers. Tho president, Mrs. F. Jolly, welcomed tho members and read a letter from the ex-president, Mrs. H. Douglas, who is now in England, and who sent her good wishes to the club on tho occasion of its third birthday. Sho wroto an interest ing description of 'lie Lyceum Club in London, whiclv sho had visited. Miss E. Hume, on behalf of tho committee, pro sonted Mrs. Jolly with a boautiful bouquet in shades of mauve. A programme of music, a dialoguo, and musical competition cntortainod tho members till supper Tho programme was as follows:—Piano duet, Mrs. McMullin and Mrs. J. D. Smith ; songs. Miss White, Miss Rimmer; piano solos, Miss Norah Valder and Miss F. Jolly: duet, Mrs. l'infold and Mrs. Farquhar;" dialogue, ''Tho Drawback," by Maurico Baring, Mrs. T. Campbell and Miss F. Jolly. Tho competition was won by Mrs. C. L. McDiarmid, and tho consolation prize went to Miss Norrish. Supper was served, the chief featuro of which was a birthday cake lit with threo candles. A representative meeting of women graduates from Cambridge, Bristol, Sydney, Auckland, Victoria, Canterbury and Otago Universities met at the Lyceum Club on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Mulgan, president of the Auckland branch of tho International Federation of University Women, was present. Mrs. Mulgan spoke of the aims of the federation ana of its growth since tho war. Sho also stressed its importance as an international organisation for promoting world peace. Those present were Mrs. Ziman, Mrs. W. J. Stevens. Mrs. Finlayson, Dr. de la Maro, Miss Hogg, Miss Madeiey, Miss Campbell, Miss Wyatt, Miss Turner, Miss Nicholls, Miss Fordo, Miss Scott, Miss McNickle, Miss White. A sub-branch of tho Auckland branch was formed, with Mrs. Ziman president, Dr. de la Maro, vice president; Miss McNickle and Miss Hogg, secretaries, with power to add to the committee. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. and Miss Campbell, late of Rifle I'ango Road, Frankton, will leave for Vancouver by tho Aorangi on July 30. Miss Ngaire Jackson has gone to Auck land for a holiday. Mrs. P. E. Wyllie, of Claudelands, has left on a trip to Sydney. Mrs. E. J. Mears has returned from a trip to tho Islands. Mrs. A. B. Beale and Mrs. J. E. Pago return on Wednesday from a visit to Sv> ncy.
