The annual country hockey week competitions were commenced at Remuera yesterday under tho control of tlio Auckland Hockey Associations. There was a fair attendance of spectators. Tho weather was fine and the grounds were in good playing order. Eight men's teams took part in tho opening games for 'ho White Horse Cup nnd l'J Indies' teamr participated in tho competition for the Provincial Cup. The folio wing were present at a meeting of managers of visitins ladies' hockev teams competing in the country week competitions in Auckland this week:—Miss P. Jf. Dawson (Auckland). Mesdanies Webb (Rangitaiki), Croker and Smith (Rodney). Martin (Whangarei). Miss Macky (Waipa) nnd Messrs. Clark (Franklin), Wykes (Northern Wairoa), Nicholson (Hauraki Plains), Hastie (Piako). It. was decided that morning games, as welt ns afternoon game.3. should bo played to-mcrrow, and possibly on Thursday, in the A and T3 sections. In the event of tho morning games having to be played on either of those days, or both, such games nhall consist of two spells of twenly-fivo minutes each. Thore will.be no morning games in the . C section to-morrow, and tho afternoon games in this section will bo of full tirno duration. The question of raising tho entry fee per team for tournaments in future, from 6s to 10s Sd, was discussed and approved. It was resolved that Auckland should endeavour to bo represented at. the 1.920 New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Association's tourney to be held at Gisborne early in September.
