OBITUARY.

MR. H. W. MOORMAN. Mr. Henry William Moorman, aged 63, whose death lias occurred at his residence, in Clifton Road, Heme Bay, arrived from England with his parents in the ship Hciar in 1873, and spent his early days at Thames. He founded a carrier's business in that town and later was employed at the foundry of Messrs. A. and G. Price. During the war ho went to England and for 3J years was engaged as a munition worker. Upon his return to New Zealand ho mado his home in Auckland, and for the last seven years had been in the employ of the tramways service. He was a member of the Newton Congregational Church, and took a keen interest in the Sunday school work. His wife predeceased him. Ho is survived by Mr. \V. Moorman, of Kactihi, Messrs. E. S., A. 11. and A. R. Moorman, of Auckland, ai d Miss E. Moorman and Mrs. E. J. Sherlock, of Auckland. The interment was at Purewa cemetery.

MR. JOSEPH SLEVIN

Tho death has occurred of Mr. Joseph E.lSlevin, at the VVaihi District Hospital, in his 73rd year. Born at Kingscourt, County Cavan, Ireland, Mr. Slevin cainc to New Zealand with 'his parents in 1876 in the ship Carisbrook Castle, as a member of tho original band of settlers brought out by the late Mr. G. Vesey Stewart to go on tho land at Katikati. After farming in that district until the close of tho "eighties" ho came to Waihi. For some time ho was engaged in commercial life and was then appointed foreman of works to tho Waihi Borough Council, a post he relinquished about five years ago to again enter business. Mr. Slevin was associated with the conversion of Waihi into a borough in 1902 and was a member of the first council, on which he held a seat for two terms. lie was a member of the Waihi Hospital Board for many years and for a considerable time was its chairman. For tho last six terms he was returned at tho bead of the poll, lie was also a prominent figure in church work, having been associated with St. James' Presbyterian Church since coming to Waihi. (To is survived by a widow, four sons and one daughter.

DP. PATRICK MACKIN

The death has occurred of Dr. Patrick Mackin, aged 65 He was born in Ireland and came to New Zealand in 1882. ITe studied at Otago University and Dun-i-din Hospital. In 1888 he went to England, where he studied at Anderson's College, qualifying in 1891. Dr. Mackin was of a retiring, unassuming disposition. In hpito of the calls of a big practice, he found timo to help professionally many of Wellington's homes and institutions. Ho leaves a widow.
