ZEPPELIN'S CRUISE.
PLANS OF DR. GCKENER.
ESTIMATED COST £25,000.
Australian and N.Z. Press Association. BERLIN, July 4. Dr. Eckener, designer and navigator of the Graf Zeppelin, was interviewed today about his proposal to attempt to fly round the world. Ho said a start must bo rnado before August 15 in order to avoid typhoons which might easily smash or crumple up the dirigible. Dr. Eckener said he expected to fly at an average speed of 65 miles an hour. He would take 20 passengers, of whom Lady Drummond Hay, British journalist, would be the only woman. The others would bo American and Japanese naval oflicrs and several journalists. The cost of the world cruise would bo £25,000, including the insurance of the Zeppelin for £160,000. Several hundred pounds of mail would be carried. If stowaways were found on board he meant to give them parachutes and tell them to jump.
