CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
Sir,—l am quite in line with your correspondents who write protesting aga nst light sentences passed on persons brought to Court for grossly ill-treating animals in their caro. Why cannot some of our members of Parliament take the mailer up and work as persistently as Mr Si ley did for his Daylight Saving Bill, and get a law passed making it compulsory to give gaol (and the lash, in extreme 'cases! for gross acts of cruelty to dumb animals J. Battv.
