WINTER EXHIBITION.
SOUTHERN FARMERS' VISIT. ' • SOUTHLAND TOURING PARTY. The joint committee of the Auckland Winter Exhibition ' met yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. A. C. Allum presided. . The Railways Department advised that' a; touring party of 300 Southland farmers and their wives would arrive at Auckland at 11 o'clock on tlie evening of Saturday, July 6. Sunday was planned as a free day for them. On Monday they desired to visit the exhibition and on the Tuesday morning they would depart for Rotorua. The meeting decided that the exhibition authorities should extend a welcome at 10.30 o'clock on the Monday morning and offer two alternative trips at 1.30 p.m.,* while a supper would be tendered at 9 o'clock that evening. The Auckland Provincial Fruitgrowers' Council informed the meeting that through the Auckland Citrus Association there was being arranged a special display of citrus fruits, a feature of which would be the advertisement of " Poorman". oranges as a) breakfast fruit. A suggestion from the Auckland Ladies Hockey Association that members of tournament teams playing .in Auckland during the exhibition be. given facilities to visit it was referred to the Finance Committee. .y " The position of treasurer, rendered vacant by the death of Mr. B. Buttle, was filled by the. election of Mr. A. J. Stratford; Members paid tribute to the excellent services rendered the show in the past by Mr. Buttlo, and expressed deep regret at his death. A vote of 'condolence with Mrs. Buttle was carried.
