EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND.
Sir, —As the North Island suffered very little damage in the earthquake comparatively with the South Island, might I suggest that Saturday week, June 29, bo known as the "North Island Relief Fund Day," and that the proceeds of all Rugby, League and Soccer matches throughout the island bo devoted to relieving the distress among our more unfortunate fellow citizens in the stricken area. If the Auckland unions initiated this movement through the various unions of the North Island, with the consent of the controlling bodies, and the selling of tickets through the week, it would mean on Monday week a very substantial amount could be sent to assist the distressed families, pending further relief funds getting under way. . Joe. R.
