FARMER'S TRAGIC FATE.
KILLED WHILE BLASTING.
A TERRIFIC EXPLOSION.
LITERALLY BLOWN TO PIECES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAIHAPE, Thursday. A shocking tragedy occurred at Rake-tf-pauma, near Taihape, this afternoon. Mr. William James Bayne, a well-known farmer, was blasting a tree stump on his property when a terrific explosion occurred, and he was killed instantly. He was literally blown to pieces. Mr. F. Banhart, who is employed on Mr. Bayne's farm, witnessed the explosion, but was not injured himself. Mr. Bayne was a married man with a large family. An inquest will be held to-mor-row.
