fire brigade scheme.
THE TRANSPORT QUESTION. The Henderson Town Board met on Wednesday evening, the chairman, Mr. W. T. R. Leighton, presiding. The town clerk reported that 28 men had offered their services as members of the fire brigade and he recommended that a team of 16 or 18 should be selected. This course was adopted. The Henderson Plunket Society was granted a donation of three guineas. The Railway Department notified the board that the rails to the Sturges Road crossing would bo laid at an early date. The New Lynn Borough Council requested the co-operation of the boaid in withdrawing the application that had been made for the district to be included in the Auckland Transport Board's area. It was considered that no useful purpose could be served by such inclusion under present conditions and the board decided to comply with the request. In connection with water supply, the question was raised by Mr. Forson-Stew-art whether there was any justification for making a charge against non-consumers of water. The majority of the members considered there was no- justification for such a charge and the matter was referred to the Finance Committee to report upon at the next meeting of the board.
