LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

.MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. THE NORTHERN UNION CUP. SOUTH AUCKLAND CHALLENGES. * The management committee of the Auckland iiueby League met last evening, Mr. G. Rhodes presiding. Mr. K. Doble. delegate to the New Zealand League, said the council had had the endorsement of the Australian Board of Control on the transfers of K. Duane and W. Telford. , „ , The delegate also reported that South Auckland had issued a challenge for the Northern Union Cup. and that Northland intended to play Auckland for the trophy. No dates were fixed for the matches. The possibility of a match against the Australian team which passes through Auckland on its way to England later in the season was mentioned by Mr. W. J. Davidson. Mr. Doble said the New Zealand League had discussed the position, and already the council was in communication with the Board of Control for a game against Auckland. The theft of a senior grade football can from the dressing rooms at Carlaw Park was tho subject of a letter from the Devonport Club, which asked that the loss be made good. The letter was referred to the grounds committee for a report.

The Otahuhu Trotting Club' wrote advising the use of two playing grounds on its property at Mangere. It was decided to thank the club for its generosity.

Permission was granted to T. Peckham, of Ponsonby, to play for Kingsland on Saturday. provided the former club endorsed the clearance.
