ATTACK ON A CONSTABLE. ESCAPE FROM A HOTEL. While two constables were walking along the main street of Townsville, Queensland, recently, a crocodile, 3£ft. long, suddenly rose from the gutter, and snapped at a leg of one of the constables. With the assistance of two civilians the policemen captured the eplile by throwing bags over it. Later it was found that the crocodile had escaped from captivity at the Palace Hotel, the proprietor of which took the reptile back to its home in a pool.
