Inter-State Rugby football was revived at the Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday after a lapse of 10 years. In the prescnco of 15,000 spectators New South Wales defeated Queensland by 47 points to 16. In the second half Now South Wales scored seven tries t four of which were converted, while Queensland secured a penalty goal. The New South Wales backs were far superior to their opponents.

Ignace Fernandez, a hard-hitting Filipino, caused the biggest sensation of the boxing year by knocking out A 1 Singer, a challenger for the featherweight title, midway in the third round. It was the first time that Singer had been knocked out in his professional career.
