DANCE AT RUAKURA. Tho students at Ruakura arranged a pleasant danco on Saturday night at. tho Ruakura farm. The hall was decorated in blue and gold streamers and ' multicoloured balloons, while tho walls were partially hidden by greenery and fern fronds.

Mr. and Mrs. Munro wpre host and hostess, the latter wearing black crepe do chine and black, lace. Tho Monte. Carlo dance was won by Miss D, Pratt and Mr. .P. Manning. A very enjoyable match between tho ladies and men took placo at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon. A bridge evening, in aid of the Hamilton West Queen, was held at Mrs. Pinfold's home on Thursday. It was organised by Mrs. F. Vickery and Mrs. C. Holloway, and resulted in a very considerable sum being raised to swell the funds. Mrs. Pinfold wore a frock of peadicoloured panne velvet and silver lame; Mrs. Vickery wore caramel-brown ring velvet, and Mrs. Holloway was in black lace. The" Regent Orchestra provided , good dance music, and the hall was gaily decorated with hanging baskets of ferns, and coloured lights. . The Reading Club circle held a meeting on Tuesday night at the Lyceum Club, when threo one-act plays weib lead. These were "The Traveller Returns," by Clemenco Dane, in which Mrs. Prenton, Mrs. Staples, Miss Hodgson, Miss I. Andrews, Miss F. Jolly, Miss Eggleston, took part; "The Constant Lover," by St. John Hvman, in which the parts were taken by Miss F. Jolly and Miss P. Bullock; and "The Old Bull," by Bernard Gilbert, those reading being Mrs. Scrimshaw, Miss Wyatt, Mrs. Campbell, Miss Andrews and Miss Wright. Personal. airs.
