WRITER BUT ABLE TO COOK.
Lady Oppenheimer, the wife of Sir Michael Oppenheimer, is very domesticated, although an authoress, and there is nothing she does not know about cooking. Once, when they were travelling in Alaska, the proprietress of a little inn invited Lady Oppenheimer into the kitchen, where she learned how -to make Alaskan scones.
Lady Oppenheimer's cooking has served her in good stead, for on one occasion, in California, when they were held up on a mountain sido in a storm, Sir Michael and Lady Oppenmeimer chanced upon a shack where they sought shelter. But the owner refused to take them in becauso his wife was away and there was no ono to cook for his visitors. Lady Oppenheimer explained that she would officiate at the stove.
