RESIGNATION OF DOCTOR.
WAIPU MEDICAL CLUB. BOARD TO MAKE INQUIRY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WHANGAREI, Tuesday. Tho resignation was received by tho Whangarei Hospital Board yesterday of Dr. Hutson, medical officer at Waipu. It was reported that the Waipu Medical Club owed £SOO to tho Hospital Board, and it was thought that no meeting had been held for several years. The secretary was ill and the president had also been ill for some time. The board decided to discontinue tho responsibility, and to make no further appointment until after a committee from tho board, comprising the chairman and Messrs. J. A, S. Mackay, D. A. McLean and J. D. Mackenzie, had visited Waipu and ascertained whether the club intended to carry on.
Mrs. Donaldson said she questioned, now that such good roads were available, whether a resident doctor was necessary at Waipu, but Mr. J. D. Mackenzie instanced the case of people living in the back blocks wherp there were no roads.
