TRANSPORT LOAN OFFERS,
FIRST INSTALMENT OF £120,000.
INVESTMENT BY THE PUBLIC. "Almost every hour of the day offers of money are being received, and wo should not have the slightest difficulty in raising all that we require/' said Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Transport Board, at its mooting yesterday. It was stated application had been made to have the result of the loan poll published in the Gazette, and for authority to proceed with the raising of the money. The funds will be obtained when they aro required, and- it is anticipated by the board that the first instalment will be £120,000, involving capital charges during the current financial year of £7500. Mr. Allum suggested debentures should be offered for sale over the board's counter. "The idea that the service belongs to tho people should bo developed, and a good way of doing that is to encourage people to put their savings into tho board's debentures," ho said.
