FORCED LANDINGS.
SOUTHERN CROSS INQUIRY. ADJOURNMENT TILL TO-MORROW. deceived May 11, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 11. The inquiry into the circumstances connected with the forced landing of tho Southern Cross and the deaths of Lieutenant Keith Anderson and Mr. R. S. Hitchcock was opened to-day and adjourned until Thursday. Counsel for Anderson's mother sought an adjournment for two weeks. SquadronLeader Kingsford Smith and FlightLieutenant Ulm and the other members of the crew of the Southern Cross also joined in tho application for an adjournment. Their grounds were that they were concerned in certain litigation which had reached a stage when declarations had to bo made.
