MOUNT ROSKILL AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF ROAD BOARD. The Mount Roskill Road Board met, hist, evening, Mr. S. I. Goodall presiding in the absence of the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, who is indisposed. A vote of sympathy with Mr. Jones was passed. I'llc returning ofliccr for the Auckland Institute and Museum notified that Messrs. F. M. Waters, E. Aldridge and R. B. Todd had been elected as representatives of the contributing local bodies, excluding the City Council, until April, 1930. The Auckland Hospital Board advised that the board's contribution for the year ending March 31 next would be £2661 6s. The Auckland city engineer advised that lie would .shortly bo submitting for consideration by the board plans of t lie proposed formation of that part of Richardson Road lying between the two bridges. The Auckland Electric-Power Board wrote stating that a street, light would lie erected in Dudock Road as soon as possible. A petition was received from several residents in Ranfurlv Terrace, objecting to the proposal to change tho name to SMolesworth Avenue, and it. was decided not to make a change. The application for a light in this street w;is declined. The board's engineer reported that on (he basis of a £2 for £1 subsidy expected from the Main Highways Board toward the proposed loan of £62,000. for reconstructing Mount Albert Road, the amount receivable would be £15,619. Of this amount £4O would be for subsoil drainago in the wet-clay area, and the balance for the concrete slabs, with the necessary excavations and bitumen shoulders; Fourteen building permits issued during the past fortnight included four dwellings.
